ROCKWELL AND AFFLECK ARE FORD BROTHERS
Casey Affleck became the brunt of Brad Pitt’s practical joke in The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. |
Sam Rockwell and Casey Affleck play the Ford brothers Charley and Robert in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Both brothers idolize Jesse James and are torn between riding with him and shooting him dead. |
Sam talks about the qualities that Casey has that are perfect for the assassinator Robert Ford. |
“I think what’s really important about Casey as Bob Ford is he has a real keen intelligence. I think that’s the thing about Bob is we need to believe that Bob is a manipulator and that he’s incredibly bright. He’s got to be. I think the thing about Casey is this intelligence in his eyes that you see as Bob Ford.” |
Casey appraises Sam’s acting abilities but he wasn’t very good in the saddle, which should be a prerequisite for making a western. |
“He really does his own thing and he’s absolutely the worst horse rider I’ve ever seen but he’s fantastic in this movie. He’s really funny and he kind of brings a humor and a charm, a kind of natural likability to the part that I don’t think anyone else could’ve brought.” |
Sam is staying clear of horses for his next film, Frost/Nixon based on the stage play featuring television interviews between British talk show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon. He’ll portray James Reston, Jr. assistant to U.S. Secretary of the Interior before Nixon’s term in office. |
