Rock Kills Kid, are currently generating a lot of buzz on the strength of their hit single, ‘Paralyzed’ which has been getting a lot of radio play around the country. As the band gets ready for a headlining tour with Head Automatica, we caught up with lead singer Jeff Tucker and keyboardist Reed Calhoun to talk about their hit single and the fact the band is most comfortable being isolated during the songwriting process. |
It was writing these songs in an isolated environment, while being homeless, where Tucker honed his song writing skills. In fact, you can hear a lot of over tones of isolation on the bands hit album ‘Are You Nervous?’ With songs that ellict the styles of U2, The Cure and even The Killers, it’s no wonder the band continues to build a solid fan base after every show. |
“It’s about being locked in a room and not being able to get out and writing a bunch of songs about being locked in a room.” Calhoun went on to add “Jeff was homeless for a long time and he couldn’t get out of his room for whatever reason. There was something crazy going on in his brain.” Tucker agreed “Yeah, some craziness that I didn’t even know about. Actually I probably couldn’t even tell you. But yeah, it’s just about isolation, basically.” |
It was also recently announced that Jeff Tucker recently chased and tackled a burglar to the ground while in his Honolulu hotel room in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 6th. The band was in Hawaii to play a festival and the polic have arrested 20-year-old Brandon Riester, whom they say is a member of the U.S. Navy. The bands tour with Head Automatica has kicked off August 16th in Norfolk, Virginia and the tour will extend until October 21st in Washington, DC. |
