Robin Wright Penn plays the Swedish wife of British Jude Law in Breaking and Entering who must deal with intimacy issues with her husband while he deals with a recent break in into his trendy architectural firm. |
She talked about her position in the film. |
“Terminally stuck I think, just not being able to I guess communicate. It’s the one thing that lacks is that communication, that real connection that brings cohesion to people in a relationship. And yes she has the child and it’s one of the factors that draws her out, isolates her out.” |
As the mother of two healthy children with Sean Penn, Robin had the sensitive challenge of playing the mother of an autistic child in the film. She talks about what she discovered. |
“But it’s also giving up your life and identity to a challenged child which I’m sure a lot of that you don’t have a choice. But you can also use that as an excuse to protect and guard against real intimacy with others.” |
Breaking and Entering also stars Juliette Binoche and Vera Farmiga most recently seen in The Departed and opens Friday in theaters. |
