ROBIN WILLIAMS WANTS COMEDIAN FOR PRESIDENT
(VIDEO) Man of the Year star Robin Williams doesn’t think it’s too far-fetched to have a comedian in office. |
Robin Williams stars in Man of The Year as a popular late night talk show host who decides to run for president of the United States to make waves on the air and wins. Williams says we’ve had a wrestler as Governor so why is it so far fetched to have a comedian running the free world. |
Williams says with the way the world is being run right now it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have some comic relief in the White House but with intelligence as well perhaps even someone like The Daily Show’s host Jon Stewart. |
“I like the idea of a comic running for office or a comedian. We’ve had wrestlers, a spokes model, we’ve had pretty much everything except a comedian. Flat out we’ve had clowns but not comedians. So it’s an interesting premise for me to say let’s go for it. Let’s see what that would be like. Right now most people get their news from political satire shows, Bill Mahr, Jon Stewart. Everyone’s watching those.” |
Man of The Year directed by Barry Levinson also stars Christopher Walken as Williams’ talent manager who steps in as his campaign manager and The Daily show correspondent Lewis Black as Williams’ head writer on the show who is delegated to speech writer. rnrn |
“The idea of a comic running for office, what’s so wrong. We’ve had everything else. At least he comes with a certain intelligence; the ability to write or at least to talk on his feet. And the ability to think and to offer at least along with the speech maybe a point of view and possibly a little humor to deal with the painful aspects of life and keep us going the way comics do. Could Jon run? Yeah Does he want to run? No, he’s in a much more powerful position on the show.” |
