ROBIN WILLIAMS, MARRIAGE COUNSELOR
Robin Williams has gone from playing a late night radio host who listens to people’s problems to a protestant minister who listens to doubting couples on the brink of marriage in License to Wed which he is currently filming. His character Father Frank has developed a stress test which gives them a set of tools to cope with their differences. |
Twice at the altar himself and now happily married with children to his second wife Marsha, Robin says the film gives the real deal about saying I do. |
“He starts off with the basic premise that it’s sad for me that 50% of most couples that get married get divorced. He said I want to increase that survival rate by giving you tools. He puts them through weird things like how to deal with in-laws, big course. How to basically be open and discuss each other’s what do you like, not just sexually but how do you deal with tension, how do you fight fairly? How do you be angry and yet come around to the other side going, ‘maybe we’re both wrong, maybe we’re both right but we got to get that out.’” |
The affianced couple in the upcoming film License to Wed is being played by John Krasinski and Mandy Moore and is currently shooting in Mexico and California. |
“It’s kind of saying you know marriage is the long program. When you’re in love and you ‘re about to get married you’re doing the short program and it’s wonderful everything is magnificent. The long program is a whole other game.” |
