“Forty years after landing in this town it’s all different. It’s fantastic. I’d like to thank everyone who voted for Alison and I. This project has been spectacular from the beginning right the way through and this song, it’s such a spooky song it’s the heart of the kind of American under world of rhythm and blues and shimmy and we’re very proud of the job T Bone Burnett did for us to make it so good.” |
After accepting the Grammy Award for Album of the Year Robert Plant admitted he was bewildered at sweeping all five Grammy Awards. |
“I’d like to say I’m bewildered. In the old days we would have called this selling out but I think it’s a good way to spend the Sunday. I’d like to thank Alison Krauss for a kindness and patience and teaching me to sing in straight lines instead of doing all that twirlie stuff. And T Bone Burnett, the conjurer who’s produced us and taken us to some great place.” |
Back stage after sweeping the awards Robert Plant talked about creating music with Alison Krauss. |
“I was just really lucky that we both had a little window of opportunity we’re we could try out one or two different ideas so we just took that opportunity and decided that we would take three days to see whether or not we had anything to offer. We were commandeered and steered by you know, T Bone Burnett. He came in like some kind of conjurer and created a whole new world of amazing interesting American music and we just got stuck in the middle of it and it’s great.” |
Rounding out the duo’s five Grammy Awards were Grammy’s for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals, Best Country Collaboration With Vocals, and Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are already working on their follow up album to “Raising Sand” although as of press time there is no release date. |
