RESIDENT EVIL EXTINCTION SURVIVES BOX OFFICE

Resident Evil: Extinction, the continuing saga of Milla Jovavich and company surviving earth’s destruction has come in at number one at box office earning $24 million over the weekend.

Director Russell Mulcahy, known for music videos of The Culture Club and AC/DC makes his feature film debut with a genre he grew up loving.

“As a child I was a fan of horror films from the word go, from the old Frankenstein movies up to Alien and it goes on and on. So horror films will always be a great passion of mine so it’s great to get my hands on such a great script.”

Russell says you don’t have to be in total darkness to be scared.

“What’s terrifying is not necessarily what goes bump in the night, but that which whispers at mid day. We do have our dark scenes and spooky scenes.”

Dane Cook’s comedy sex romp Good Luck Chuck takes second place with $14 million and Jodie Foster’s vigilante film The Brave One moves from number one to third place with $7 million.
