Rapper Remy Ma is doing her part to help others. Last week the rapper participated in a panel discussion that was put together by the Strength of My Sisters Foundation to inspire underprivileged girls in New York City. While appearing on the panel on Thursday, July 27th, Remy Ma shared the struggles she overcame while growing up in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx and offered her story as an inspiration to the teenage girls who were in attendance. |
The Strength of My Sisters Foundation primarily focuses on changing the statistics of prostitution, juvenile criminal offenses and HIV infection among young African-American women. |
“And as far as advice, I just tell them to be you. Everybody will be tell you, ‘We need you to be the next Kim, or the next Eve, or the next Foxy.’ I’m just like why be the next them when I can be the first Remy. So I just feel like just be you. It may take a little bit longer but you’ll get what you want.” |
Prior to participating in the panel discussion, Remy Ma also offered some advice for aspiring female rappers. She said, |
