(VIDEO) Remy Ma is leaving SRC Records….. |
Bronx-based rapper Remy Ma is leaving Steve Rifkind’s SRC label. The rapper was disappointed with the label’s support of her debut solo effort, There’s Something About Remy. She also publicly criticized Terror Squad leader Fat Joe for failing to support her debut including the fact that he didn;t invite her to appear on his most recent album, 2005’s All Or Nothing. |
Remy Ma explained her decision to switch labels. She said, |
“Yes I’m definitely switching labels. We working on signing those release papers as we speak so I will be definitely switching labels. I don’t know where I’m going yet. It’s gonna be with somebody that got the same drive like me. That want to win like me. Like second is the first loser and I don’t want to be that.” |
This isn’t the first time that Remy Ma was signed to Steve Rifkind. The rapper signed with Loud Records in 1999 shortly after the death of her mentor Big Pun but when Loud Records was folded into Sony Records, she was granted a release. |
In related news, Ma participated in a tribute to MC Lyte at the 3rd annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors. The show is scheduled to air on Tuesday, October 17th, at 8:00 p.m. ET. |
