Rapper Remy Ma was hit with a $10 million lawsuit by the woman she allegedly shot last summer. The shooting victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, alleges that Remy Ma “willfully, wantonly and maliciously” shot her last July after leaving a New York City nightclub. The lawsuit also names the rapper’s two former labels, Universal Music Group and Sure Shot Recordings, as defendants, because they allegedly encourage the rapper to behave violently in order to promote a certain image. |
Remy Ma, who is out on $250,000 bail, was charged with aggravated assault. The rapper was later hit with gang assault and witness tampering charges when a group a young men allegedly following her orders assaulted the boyfriend of the shooting victim in August. |
“Cause I’m not a single mother like my son is with his father right now. We’re not together but it’s very…communication is….Wherever you got that information from, that was wrong.” |
The charges have taken their toll on the rapper who was denied permission to travel overseas for several tour dates. Several recored deals are also on hold pending the outcome of the case. |
