Red Jumpsuit Apparatus talks about visiting and playing tornado ravaged Enterprise, Alabama for a benefit for a destroyed High School. |
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus helped raise funds for Enterprise, High School in Enterprise Alabama to aid victims of a tornado that ravaged the school. The band topped the bill along with several local acts. |
The concert was sold-out, and at the Z-100 Zootopia show a few weeks ago in NY, the band’s Ronnie Winter and Elias Reidy talked about helping the cause. |
[Winter] “The enterprise benefit? Actually it was awesome. It was something that we were able to do on the down-low, and what can you say? I was told that we raised almost 50 or 60 thousand dollars total, that’s going straight to the school, and we also sold some shirts that we sold exclusively and gave all profits of the shirt also which raised an additional, I wanna say, 30,000. So, it’s around the 100,000 dollar mark, and I hope they can use it to help rebuild the school. [Reidy] “It was news to us that it had happened, and we wanted to learn more becuase we wanted to be able to releate. A few of the guys, maybe half the band, went up in a helicopter to check out all the damage. Once we did that and talked to the families, it really took a toll on us as well. It made for a very good live show that night for sure.” |
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus also designed a limited edition shirt with proceeds going to the high school. The town of Enterprise, Alabama was hit with a category four tornado which caused nine deaths and 121 injured. Eight of those who died were high school students, who were crushed when a hallway collapsed. |
