RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS WOULD BE HONORED TO GET INTO ROCK HALL WITH IGGY POP
Red Hot Chili Peppers, who are one of the finalists to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame say that they’d like to be inducted with Iggy Pop & The Stooges. |
While the votes are still being tallied on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2010, a few bands seem like a virtual lock to be inducted into the Hall. Certainly each nominee is more than deserving but bands like Kiss and The Red Hot Chili Peppers seem destined for enshrinement. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have been performing and recording their blend of Rock, Punk and Old School Funk, would be more than honored to be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame along side one of their idols, the legendary Iggy Pop and TheStooges. The Stooges are widely regarded as one of the most influential punk rock bands with lead vocalist Iggy Pop being known for his outrageous onstage performances. The Stooges have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame eight times, the most recent being in 2009. |
Artisan News caught up with drummer Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers to get his thoughts on the possibility of being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside The Stooges. |
“I think that we’re really old. I don’t know that Iggy is getting in. I hope, that would be great. He really deserves it and The Stooges of course. It would be a crime if they were not, if they did not get into The Hall of Fame. So I would be honored to get in the same year as the All Mighty Stooges.” |
A few of the other 2010 nominees are Genesis, LL Cool J, Jimmy Cliff, The Stooges and ABBA, Donna Summer, Darlene Love, The Hollies and Jimmy Cliff. The final list of inductees will be announced in January and the ceremony will once again be held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria on March 15th, 2010. The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame will celebrate their 25th Anniversary on October 29th and 30th with two very special concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York, that will feature performances by U2, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Metallica, Simon & Garfunkel and many more. It was also recently announced that Ozzy Osbourne will be joining Metallica on stage for their performance. |
