The Red Hot Chili Peppers took home four Grammy Awards at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Song for ‘Dani California’ and Best Rock Album for ‘Stadium Arcadium.’ It was quite an amazing night for for the band as not only did they take home multiple Grammy Awards but they also capped the Grammys with a performance of their latest single ‘Snow (Hey Oh).’ |
Onstage accepting the award for Best Rock Album, the band thanked a multitude of people who poured their hearts out in the making of ‘Stadium Arcadium.’ |
(Frusciante) “It means so much to us that our music connects to so many people thank you to each and every one of you.” (Smith) “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I want thank my beautiful wife Nancy for supporting me and these three guys standing behind me and of course Rick Rubin and get out there and start a rock band. A bunch of kids should get out there and start a rock band, we need more rock bands.” (Keidis) “I love being in this band, I love these guys, I love doing what we get to do and a lot of people put their hearts into this, it took us a couple of years, Rick Rubin was one of them and we had some great engineers. I love my Mama, thank you all.” |
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been playing for over twenty years together so why does the band thought they had such a long lasting amazingly successful career |
(Flea) “We’ve been around a pretty long time and it just seems like the longer we play people don’t really turn off to us and we keep gathering, it’s like a snow ball. We remain diligent and focused and we keep keeping the people that have always loved us and we’ve loved and we gain more as we continue to work. It kind of makes sense, it’s not a fly by night type of thing. We’ve been at it for a while and we’re just grateful to like I said before to play music.” (Keidis) “And it’s an all ages experience, music is an all ages experience. Fortunately I think we connect with young, medium and old.” |
We also caught up with drummer Chad Smith, who was busy playing drums with the Dixie Chicks as well as the Chili Peppers at the Grammys to talk about music not being a competition. |
(Smith) “We’re in with a bunch of I think really good artists. It’s not a competition. Music isn’t a competition but we’re passionate. So for us it’s kind of a good party.” |
The Red Hot Chili Peppers also won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group and for Best Bos Set Rock Packaging.
