RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, KISS, ABBA, GENESIS EARN ROCK HALL NOMINATIONS
The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominations for The Class of 2010 and it’s another diverse range of talent including The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kiss, Genesis, LL Cool J, Jimmy Cliff, The Stooges and ABBA. Artists are eligible for induction 25 years after their debut release, so all the candidates released their first single no later than 1984 and LL Cool J and the Red Hot Chili Peppers both made the ballot on their first year of eligibility. |
Artisan News caught up with drummer Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers to get his thoughts on how surprised he is that the Red Hot Chili Peppers lasted 5 years, let alone 25 years of making great music together. |
“I mean it’s nice. That’s a cool thing. I would have never thought The Red Hot Chili Peppers, doing our kooky Funk music, that we would even last five years let alone twenty five and still be relevant and still be making new fresh music and people still interested in what we do and being recognized as innovators and important to music.” |
A few of the other 2010 nominees are the Stooges, Donna Summer, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, the Chantels, the Hollies and Jimmy Cliff. The final list of inductees, which is decided by Music industry voters, will be announced in January and the ceremony will once again be held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria on March 15th, 2010. The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame will celebrate their 25th Anniversary on October 29th and 30th with two very special concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York, that will feature performances by U2, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Metallica, Simon & Garfunkel and many more. rn |
