R&B singer Ray Lavender is the next artist due up from Akon’s camp…..

R&B singer Ray Lavender is latest star to emerge from R&B singer Akon’s camp. The singer will release his new album, X Rayted, this September on Kon Live/Geffen Records. The first single from the project is “My Girl’s Gotta Girlfriend” featuring Fabolous and Red Cafe.

Kon Live is Akon’s joint venture deal with Geffen Records. The singer also has a joint venture deal with Jive Records for Konvict Music through which he released T-Pain’s two highly successful albums. Lavender will be the second project released through the Kon Live deal. Akon released the debut project, Love Is Wicked, from Brick & Lace earlier this year through Kon Live.

“It was phenomenal to work with Akon. Akon is like, like …your favorite toy for Christmas you wanted and you got it and you played with it and it did exactly what you wanted it do. That’s what Akon is to me right now. If I tell Akon to do something, he goes past what he’s suppose to do and it turns out incredible. That’s why you hear him on the radio right now cause his melodies, and his beats, and his tracks are incredible.”
