RAY BENZINO HIT WITH TAX EVASION CHARGES

Source magazine co-owner Ray Benzino was hit with tax evasion charges last month for allegedly failing to file tax returns for 1999 and 2000 when he earned an estimated $1.5 million. He was charged by the U.S. attorney’s office in Massachusetts and arraigned. The rapper pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcinkiewicz told the Boston Herald, “There was an extensive investigation into this matter. We took a sweeping look at this individual. We were aware of the allegations of murder and everything else. This is what we came up with.”

Benzino is a co-founder of the rap group Almighty R.S.O. which has allegedly been linked to gang activity in Boston in the past.

Benzino is also facing some financial issues as the Source is in hot water with its creditors. Rumors have been flying that Jay-Z and Steve Stoute may be looking to purchase the magazine. rn
