RAY BENZINO HIT WITH TAX EVASION CHARGES
Source magazine co-owner Ray Benzino was hit with tax evasion charges last month for allegedly failing to file tax returns for 1999 and 2000 when he earned an estimated $1.5 million. He was charged by the U.S. attorney’s office in Massachusetts and arraigned. The rapper pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on $10,000 unsecured bond. |
FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcinkiewicz told the Boston Herald, “There was an extensive investigation into this matter. We took a sweeping look at this individual. We were aware of the allegations of murder and everything else. This is what we came up with.” |
Benzino is a co-founder of the rap group Almighty R.S.O. which has allegedly been linked to gang activity in Boston in the past. |
Benzino is also facing some financial issues as the Source is in hot water with its creditors. Rumors have been flying that Jay-Z and Steve Stoute may be looking to purchase the magazine. rn |
