RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE REVS ENGINE, BEYOND COACHELLA
Rage Against The Machine are Coachella bound, but could there be more appearances this summer? |
Rage Against The Machine is set to headline at Coachella on April 27 through 29 in Indio, California. The band will be joined by Bjork and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but there are rumors floating that Rage might be festival bound in Europe this summer. |
Calls placed to substantiate the rumors haven’t been returned, but fans have long waited for the band to re-form. Vocalist Zach De La Rocha has not been heard from since the split earlier this decade. Tom Morello went with Tim C. and drummer Brad Wilk to form Audioslave with Chris Cornell. In an interview conducted recently, Morello talked about what makes bands like Rage Against The Machine so powerful. |
“The reason why bands like Rage [Against The Machine] and System [Of A Down], The Clash or Public Enemy, why those bands get over, it’s not because of the message exclusively, it’s because the message has such a powerful musical engine that it rides on. That’s when you can really connect is that combination of culture and politics. That’s when the light goes on in people’s heads and when you can really make an impact.” |
Rage plays on the last day of the fest, and Morello will play the day before as his political alter-ego, The Nightwatchman. Other artists set for the two-day fest include: Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, Decemberists, the Roots, Rufus Wainwright, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah, and Fountains of Wayne. |
