Queen Latifah stars in Stranger Than Fiction hired to unblock Emma Thompson’s author Kay Eiffel’s writers block so that she can finish her novel. |
From day one Latifah loved observing Thompson’s creative process because in many ways acting is something that she fell into through music. |
“Penny is very much a no nonsense type of woman. She is used to taking care of people who’s lives tend to be a little out of control or a little disheveled. They’re probably a mess nine times out of ten. She helps writers get through writer’s block and complete their books. Her approach is very firm and matter of fact when dealing with these authors who can be quite crazy.” |
Nuts is the operative word to describe Will Ferrell who usually plays wacky characters who take their pants off but as Harold Crick he’s found a more well-rounded role. Latifah says she’s glad she finally got the opportunity to work with him. |
“I think we have a great chemistry. We clicked from day one so it’s really been fun to watch us together, to work together, to be these opposites and to be there for each other at the same time. But she’s fantastic. She’s just wonderful to watch and it’s just wonderful to see her create these little idiosyncrasies for this character and watch her be just completely nuts.” |
Next Latifah stars as the narrator Mother Christmas, in Perfect Christmas, a yuletide tale where a shopping mall Santa acts as a matchmaker.rn |
“Will is a sweetheart. He’s just a cool dude. Everyone in this cast has been wonderful. But Will it’s nice because I’ve gotten to watch him from the outside for quite a while. I’ve wanted to work with him for a while. And meeting him was just wonderful. And he’s just good. He’s just great at what he does. I don’t think there could be another Harold Crick. I think he’s a perfect Harold Crick.” |
