PUDDLE OF MUDD FAMOUS AND CRUCIAL ALBUM, TV APPEARANCES PLAN
Puddle Of Mudd is set to hit the tube prior to their tour, and the band said it’s a crucial album for them as they cut back on hitting the LA scene. |
Puddle Of Mudd is set to embark on a headline tour starting January 29 in support of their latest album Famous. Before they leave they’ll make appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on January 22, and two days later they’ll be on the syndicated love-advice show, Loveline. |
The band exploded out-of-the-box with Come Clean, but their 2003 effort, Life On Display didn’t perform commercially as expected. We asked singer Wes Scantlin and bandmate Douglas Ardito how crucial this album is to their career. |
[Ardito] “Really crucial.” [Scantlin] “We really worked super-hard on this record, you know. Crucial, like, as far as sales or success pretty much? We would love nothing more than for this album to succeed beyond our expectations. It’s really a tough kind of road out there in this day and age. We feel that we have written and performed to the best of our abilities in the studio, and we’re doing our darndest on stage, and we’ll see what happens. I can’t make any predictions, but I can only hope for the best — prepare for the worst and hope for the best.” |
Puddle Of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin was linked to Rachel Hunter among other starlets during the band’s days of excess, but both Scantlin and Ardito say that the LA scene is now out of their system – explaining the vantage point of their new effort Famous. |
[Scantlin] “It’s something for a second in your life, if you go there and you live there, it seems like… It’s kind of fun at the beginning and then you step back and you go, ‘Eh. I’d rather be at home chilling out having a pizza and watching a game or something. We’ve both grown out of that phase, I can say, pretty much.” [Ardito] “I mean you just have to find other stuff to do in LA than to go out every night, but we definitely have done our share of going out every night. That’s where a lot of lyrics are also, like, ‘Going through the back door let the games begin’ is a line out of ‘Famous,’ so that was kind of like how we were rolling at a certain point too. We weren’t bagging on everybody in LA, there’s a lot of fun stuff too.” [Scantlin] “LA, there’s nothing wrong with it. Anything is as good or as bad as you want or you can make it as cool as you want. I would say don’t get stuck in the scene too long because it’s kind of funky. |
Puddle Of Mudd is out supporting the album and the new single “Psycho,” and their U.S. tour wraps up March 8 in Oklahoma City. Puddle Of Mudd are famous for their songs “Blurry,” “She Hates Me,” and “Control.” |
