Canadian Hardcore band Protest the Hero talk about winning The Revolver Golden God award for Best Viral Video and why they are embarrased. |
Canadian Hardcore band Protest the Hero took home The Revolver Golden God award for Best Viral Video for “The Reason We Missed Salt Lake Show” and although they are excited to win the award they admitted they still are quite embarrassed as well. The video, which takes place on the side of a lonely road somewhere in Utah, shows what the band dancing together while they wait for the van to get towed after breaking down, thus missing their show in Salt Lake City. |
We caught up with Protest the Hero at The Golden God Awards to find out their thoughts on winning the award for Best Viral Video. |
“It’s kind of embarrassing. It’s something we did on the side of the road. We never thought we’d get anything for it and we thought people would just laugh at us and that was the initial purpose. We made the video to appease fans because we keep on missing Salt Lake City shows, so we thought we’d make it up to them by making fun of ourselves. We didn’t have any beer and we were just outside of Salt Lake City where all the beer is 3% so we had no option of getting drunk so we just danced our brains away. We had three hours to kill and wait for a tow truck in the middle of nowhere so dancing was the obvious option.” |
Protest the Hero are currently on the Heads Will Roll Tour in support of their latest album “Fortress.” The tour also includes Misery Signals, Fall From Grace, Scale the Summit and The Number 12 Looks Like You and extends until May 15th in St Paul, Minnesota. |
