PROM KINGS GET EMOTIONAL IN THE STUDIO
With tonight’s American Idol season finale on FOX, runner up James Durbin tunes in and weighs in. |
The Prom Kings have released their much anticipated self titled debut album and the span of the album crosses over many musical genres with hard rock ferociousness, emotional ballads, composed orchestration and even hip hop phenom, The Game guests vocals on The Prom Kings release, which already features the bands first hit single, ‘Alone.’ The Prom Kings feature wonderfully thoughtful Orchestration and an ability to show a wide musical range. We caught up with Chris Carney and Luke Pickerill of The Prom Kings to discuss their debut release and the bands thoughts on the first time they heard the orchestration of their songs in the studio, which can be quite an emotional process. |
The band also has known The Game since his early days in the studio with Dr. Dre. Being from the same area and having mutual friends, it was only a matter of time before The Game became aware of The Prom Kings musical and song writing talent and showed the band love by appearing in the studio on their song ‘Down.’ Chris and Luke also went on to talk about The Game and the ensuing friendship and respect for each other in and out of the studio. |
“The first day it was so emotional, you know because it was the first time we actually felt like real musicians. To see your music charted and see a twenty-five, thirty piece orchestra playing your stuff, I just remember in the studio with our arms around each other and all of us crying. It was really unbelievable.” Luke went on to concur “Yeah, it was crazy.” |
The group’s new single “Bleeding” goes to radio next week and is already getting play at stations throughout the country. “Bleeding” follows the success of The Prom Kings first single “Alone.” The Prom Kings’ explosive rocker “Blow” appears both in the film and on the soundtrack for the DreamWorks movie ‘The Island,’ which is in theaters now. “The Game. Well, The Game… The Documentary in stores now. We’ve been hanging out with The Game, I’ve been friends with The Game for four or five years. Yeah, it’s been a while. Back when he was with Dre, back in the studio and we were out one night and through a mutual friend he was hanging out and it was two in the morning after a club and he was bumpin’ his stuff out of his car and we were bumpin’ our stuff out of our car and he came up and was like ‘Man, what is that? I got to get on that track.’ And two days later he was in the studio spitting twelve bars of fire. We were like ‘What?’ And we’ve continued to be friends ever since and he’s part of the big reason where we are right |
