Prodigy preps for three and a half year prison sentence but says cops asked him to set up 50 Cent….. |
Mobb Deep’s Prodigy will turn himself in on January 9th to serve a three and a half year sentence for a weapons conviction after he reached a plea agreement earlier this month. The rapper was facing fifteen years behind bars if found guilty because of two prior convictions. Prodigy shared that the cops allegedly gave him a way out of the situation. During an interview with DJ Whookid, the rapper said, “I’ve seen it first hand for myself that the cops is lying. When they locked me up they tried to get me to set up 50 Cent. They wanted me to plant drugs and guns in his car. I was like ‘Hell no, I ain’t doing that.’ They told me if I plant stuff in his car, they would let me walk.” |
Prodigy’s conviction stems from an arrest last October in which officers discovered a .22-caliber handgun in the center console of his bulletproof Chevy Suburban. According to police, they pulled over the rapper’s SUV after he made an illegal U-turn and began to drive illegally up a one-way street. The police officers testified that they noticed Prodigy’s hand near the console. |

In related news, Prodigy was set to release his official sophomore album, HNIC II, in March but the rapper has decided to pull it back. He plans to release several mixtapes and the new album during his sentence so that he can stay relevant. |
