PRIMUS PRIORITY FOR CLAYPOOL IN 2008?
Les Claypool shares his thoughts on his plans for 2008 and he talks about a very busy year ahead with many musical options |
With the release of Les Claypool’s latest film ‘Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo’ screening nationally at select locations, Claypool can start concentrating and planning out what appears to be a very busy 2008 ahead. Claypool, perhaps best known as the eclectic bassist and lead vocalist for Primus, has also played an instrumental role in countless other musical projects, ranging from Oysterhead to Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains to Les Claypool’s Flying Frog Brigade and even his solo band. Primus, which is rounded out by Tim Alexander and Larry Lalonde, have been winning fans over with their truely original and inventive style of music since the bands debut album in 1990 ‘Frizzle Fry.’ As many Primus fans have been savoring the bands first greatest hits package ‘They Can’t All Be Zingers’ which hit the street in 2006, rumors have been circulating that Primus is possibly heading into the studio to begin production on what would be the bands first studio album since 1999’s ‘Antipop.’ |
We caught up recently with Les Claypool to get his thoughts on a possible return to the studio with Primus and what appears to be another busy year on the horizon. |
“Now you’re asking me the same questions that my management asks me for years, which is you know ‘Let’s plan our year.’ There’s too many variables. That’s as far as I’ve planned. We’ve got some film projects on the table that we’re trying to get going. Now there’s this writer strike, so who knows what the hells going to happen with any of these things. So, I think I’ve given you all I know as far as what’s in the future. There’s this tour in Febuary and March that will be, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun because I’m mixing it up a little bit with the fellas.” |
Although no 2008 tour dates have been announced as of press time, it appears Les will hit the road in Febuary and March with his solo band before deciding what band to tour with in the Summer. Les Claypool will once again be hosting his 3rd Annual New Years Eve Hatters Ball EXTRAVAGANZA! The party will be held on December 31st at the Fillmore in San Francisco, California. Les Claypool will also appear at the 2008 Langerado Music Festival, which will take place March 6-9, 2008 at The Big Cypress Reservation in Florida. |
