POISON PEN SET TO RELEASE DEBUT

Brooklyn-based rapper Poison Pen will release his debut album, Pick Your Poison: Mark of the East, on June 19th on Fontana/Universal Records. The latest single from the project is “Foul Play.” The album features a guest appearance by Immortal Technique and production by Da Beatminerz.

Pen, who is a member of the underground Stronghold crew which also includes Breez Evaflowin’, C Rayz Walz, Immortal Technique and DJ Static, is six feet tall and weighs 300 pounds. He’s also from the same Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn as the Notorious B.I.G. The rapper recently discussed his run-ins with the late rapper.

‘That’s funny that you mentioned that cause when I was a younger dude coming up, you know what I mean like you know BIG was still in the hood, you know what I’m sayin’? So I’ve encountered BIG plenty of times but I wasn’t as round so that comparison wasn’t even there. But the funny thing is yeah you know, I’m six feet tall, 300 pounds, so automatically being a big brother from Bed-Stuy, people always say, ‘BIG, BIG, BIG.’ But honestly like as far as my music, there’s no comparison. I mean BIG is a legend. So I mean anybody that’s trying to compare themselves to him and hasn’t put in that work is just playing themselves anyway.”
