PIRATES THREE ON DVD
After three films, Bill Nighy finally figures out what gets Davy Jones’ heart pounding. |
Pirates of the Caribbean At World’s End is available on DVD December 4th. Johnny Depp stars as Captain Jack Sparrow rescued from the land of the dead by Elizabeth, Will and Captain Barbossa to gain control of the heart of Davey Jones from Lord Cutler Beckett. |
Director Gore Verbinski offers many deleted scenes and the opportunity for fans to watch the movie from start to finish over and over or look for hidden treasures. |
“The DVD is a wonderful place to see deleted scenes, see the process of making the movie. It depends on how deep you want to go. As an audience you can just watch the film or you can search for those easter eggs. There’s so much to enjoy in the process of how the film is made.” |
Extras on the DVD include an impromptu serenade from Keith Richards who guest stars in a classic cameo as Jack’s dad which is fitting since Johnny always thought of himself as rock n’ roll pirate. |
“The connection that I made when I was thinking about Captain Jack was the idea that pirates were the rock n’ roll stars of that era in 18th century. First and foremost the myth or the legend would arrive months before they would ever make port that kind of thing, which is very similar to rock n’ roll stars. And it was about freedom. Keith: Now you’re talking Jackie. Open the cage, let the tigers out.” |
Other behind-the-scenes featurettes include the final battle scene on The Black Pearl where Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann talks about learning the swashbuckling choreography and prop master Kris Peck talks about designing the pirate code book using sunflower seeds, rum and wine stains to give it an ancient look. |
