PINK FLOYD T-SHIRT BROUGHT ROGER WATERS TO THE LAST MIMZY
The Last Mimzy director and executive producer Bob Shaye couldn’t believe the synchronicity that surrounded the making of the film, as the story itself is about making human connections in strange ways. |
He says it all began with a costume choice for Rainn Wilson’s bohemian teacher. |
“Rainn Wilson said to me at one point when I asked him what he wanted to wear, ‘you know I’d like to wear a Pink Floyd T-shirt, something with Dark Side of The Moon, maybe.’ So we got a hold of the costume designer and said, ‘Go find him a real Pink Floyd T-shirt,’ which she did. Three months later I’m at a cocktail party and I meet Roger Waters. I didn’t know the guy and we strike up a conversation and he actually invited myself and Tim Hutton to go to his concert at Madison Square Garden.” |
Bob knew right away that Pink Floyd front man Roger Waters should write the film’s theme song “Hello (I Love You).” |
“And I walked out of the concert and said he would do a great song for this movie. Tim said yeah so I called him up and he came over and showed him an early version of the film and he said sure I’d love to do it. So he and Howard Shore collaborated to make this incredible song three months after Rainn decided he wanted to wear a Pink Floyd T-shirt. And so there were a lot of those soulful moments, synchronicity moments.” |
The Last Mimzy is currently playing in theaters. |
