PINK FLOYD REVEALED IN MASON BOOK

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason recently visited New York City to promote the band’s Pulse DVD, but he also highlighed his literary work. His book Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd, documents every aspect of the band. Mason should know. He’s the longest standing member, having spent nearly 40 years in Pink Floyd.

While many seek to focus on his take on the relationships between David Gilmour and Roger Waters — who no longer is in the band — Mason prefers to look at a different aspect of Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd. We asked him what the most enlightening part of the book was for fans of the band.

“Um, I think probably the fact that although we’re seen as a band who have been fighting for the last twenty years, and perhaps a very serious band, but in manyt ways we’re an architypal rock and roll band — albiet not as badly behaved as some of them. But Pink Floyd is not something that was born of the planet Zog. We actually started as a regular band and then very gradually developed something that is what it is today. I think that’s quite interesting — interesting to me anyway — that what seems to be a grand plan was nothing of the sort. It was just sort of amble along the yellow brick road of life.”
