PIMP C GETS BACK TO WORK
UGK’s Pimp C, whose real name is Chad Butler, has been very busy since he was released from prison last month. The rapper has recorded a remix of Bun B’s “Get Throwed” and a verse for T.I.’s “Front, Back And Side To Side.” Pimp C explained what his first day of freedom was like. The rapper told MTV.com, “It’s a blessing, being able to come home and be treated this way. Somebody passed me a cell phone and said, ‘This is yours.’ I hadn’t saw no money, and Bun gave me a stack. So I fit back into the swing of things kind of fast.” |
Pimp C and Bun B also picked up some extra cash by inking an endorsement deal with Dame Dash’s Pro-Keds sneaker line. |
“UGK, Pimp and I, we’re from a small town. Like literally there was no rap scene. The rap scene was Pimp’s bedroom, you know what I’m sayin’? So we understand there’s a lot of other small towns and kids in bedrooms in these real small town that they want to do it big just like anybody in these larger communities, you know what I’m sayin’, and there’s a chance for them. There’s a chance for anybody to be whoever they want to be in this world. We just try to lead and show these cats that by example. Hopefully they can feed off the energy, the drive and the motivation that we show.” |
UGK is currently working on a new album and mentoring new acts like Lil Weebie, Lil Boosie, and the Middle Fingaz. Bun B explaiend that the group takes pride in leading by example. He said, |
