Scott Mechlowicz had his work cut out for him to play college gymnast Dan Millman in Peaceful Warrior. Scott talks about his work-out regime to get in shape for the character. |
The story is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Dan Millman whose chance meeting with a spiritual stranger changes his life. That mystery man is played by Nick Nolte. Scott talks about working with the generous actor.rn |
“You know we had a couple of months and a very strict diet and two hours working out in the morning and three hours gymnastics at night six to eight days a week so it was an intense change of lifestyle. But I loved it and I really wanted to get it as authentic and accurate as possible and we just had great people working with us. Jim Foody was our coach and he’s a national champion so you can’t get much higher standards than that to get it authentic so that was really good.”rn |
Peaceful Warrior also stars Amy Smart as Scott’s love interest who oddly enough was in Road Trip an American precursor to Scott’s turn in the film Euro Trip. Peaceful Warrior opens today.rn |
“Nick Nolte plays Socrates and man he has this gentile generosity. There would be days where we’d have some pretty emotional scenes going on and he wouldn’t be in the scenes but he would come to me before the scene even if he wasn’t working and he’d go over the previous scene with me just to put me in place mentally as to where I’m coming from. There’s the little things like that you can never show enough appreciation for.” |
