PAYBACK BACK ON DVD WITH DIRECTORS CUT
The 1999 film Payback starring Mel Gibson as a crook who is double-crossed on a Chinese gang hit by his wife and best friend who leave him for dead, is now on DVD with the director’s cut version. |
Mel explains how the new version of the film from Brian Helgeland is an improvement to the original. |
“It’s just interesting. It’s like a whole other ending. They’re different films and it’s interesting to juxtapose them and watch them. You know what I’m really glad that this is being released because it’s valid and it’s a good film and it does really reflect that kind of sociopathic Porter.” |
Gibson displays his own penchant for craziness playing a trick on co-star Lucy Liu while trying to explain her character’s costumes on the set of Payback shot in Chicago. |
“Well Ha the costume designer she had some ideas and we did a couple of fittings and then we went to Trashy lingerie. She decided that she needed to be more, as soon as she walks in she’s gotta have a serious pose. You know what I mean she really has to take charge so she thought that maybe—I saw something on his face like what’s going on.” |
Payback marks Maria Bello’s sophomore feature with Grindhouse star Freddie Rodriguez as a punk messenger. |
