PAUL RODGERS WORKING WITH QUEEN FOR NEW RECORDING
Artisan Newswrap Classic Rock for September 20… Queen wants YOU for next tour, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has to remove a debatable eyesore, Dr. Oz… |
One of the biggest tours in the last few years was the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour, which brought Queen’s music back to its fans, albeit with Paul Rodgers carrying the vocals. While Rodgers and the late Freddie Mercury had different styles, fans were still glad to hear the songs performed live. |
Now it looks like Rodgers and Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have sat down to work on some brand new tunes. Rodgers talks about the new tracks, which may be headed for a QPR, Queen Paul Rodgers, album in the future. |
“Yeah, we’ve done a couple of sessions. We did about three days in the studio together, Roger, Brian and Myself. After the solo tour that we recorded the (Live In Glasgow) DVD at. And we recorded three tracks, which we’re quite excited about. I’ve just come back from there about a month ago, we spent three weeks in the studio just laying my songs, Brian’s songs, and Roger’s songs down just to see where it’s going to take it. We have yet to start writing together. So far it has worked for us to let the thing grow organically, and that’s the way we’re going to keep it — let it dictate to us how it will be.” |
Queen + Paul Rodgers toured the U.S. for most of 2005. Brian May actually said that Paul’s band, Free, was a very big influence on him, and was widely respected by Queen. Rodgers has released a Live In Glasgow, a solo performance CD featuring his work in Free, Bad Company and the Firm. The companion DVD is set to hit stores next month. |
