PAUL McCARTNEY TO INDUCT RINGO STARR INTO ROCK HALL, FALL OUT BOY DOES GREEN DAY, MORE ADDITIONS
The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame has announced the presenters for the Induction Ceremony taking place in Cleveland April 18 for this year, and organizers definitely brought in the cavalry. Ringo Starr will be inducted by his bandmate with The Beatles Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder will be inducting Bill Withers, Patti Smith will be inducting the late Lou Reed, J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf will be inducting the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Fall Out Boy will be inducting Green Day, John Mayer will be inducting the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Steve Cropper inducting the “5” Royales. At press time it was not known who will be ushering inductee Joan Jett & The Blackhearts into the Hall.
Performers for the night include Beck, Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Tom Morello, John Legend, Jimmie Vaughan, and others. Green Day was the fans choice, and this year the Hall stopped short of inducting several Hard Rock bands who deserve induction, including Deep Purple. Morello inducted Kiss last year, and he said that the Hall is slowly trying to induct hard rock bands, which he said boosts its legitimacy.
The 30th Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony will air in edited format on HBO Saturday, May 30, 2015.
