PAUL GIAMATTI IS NOT ALWAYS NICE SANTA
Paul Giamatti got the propensity to be a nasty Santa from his older brother in Fred Claus. |
Paul Giamatti stars in Fred Claus as the lovable St. Nick who just so happens to be the younger sibling of a criminal who has his heart set on ruining Christmas for his beloved brother. |
When Paul took on the role of Santa Claus he knew exactly what was required of him. Oddly enough is was the oversized hands and the beard he wore that made him uncomfortable. |
“You know exactly what you’re supposed to do you know what I mean to some extent. You got to do the ho ho jelly belly stuff and everything. I mean I had to work on that to get it right but on the other hand you know exactly what you’re supposed to bring across so in a way it makes it easier. The hands were fine. I mean they were hot but disgusting when they came off because I’d sweat in them all day. They were disgusting rubber bags of sweat by the time they came off me at the end of the day.” |
Paul’s older brother Fred played by Vince Vaughn is the bad Santa of the family and their sibling rivalry created a lot of racy improvisations which never made it to the screen. |
“But a lot of the times the stuff that cracked me up is not in the movie because it was generally filthy in some way which I kept getting pulled into because I thought this’ll be funny if Santa Claus says something really filthy. But none of that is in the movie. I wonder if some of that stuff is sitting around. Yeah but still you don’t want your kids to see Santa Claus saying the F word which I did.” |
Paul Giamatti will next be seen on the small screen in the HBO miniseries John Adams portraying the life of America’s second president. |
