PAUL GIAMATTI: GREED IS NOT GOOD
Paul Giamatti plays a greedy wealthy husband with no moral conscious in The Nanny Diaries. |
Paul Giamatti stars as Mr. X, the self-centered filthy rich husband to Laura Linney’s Mrs. X in The Nanny Diaries. |
Paul reunites with his American Splendor directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini to create a character essentially motivated by greed rather than providing for his family. |
“What drives Mr. X? Cold hard cash and the ladies. That’s what drives Mr. X. He’s really a pretty bad guy. He’s pretty much just an evil heavy in the thing in a lot of ways. He’s motivated by greed.” |
Paul says The Nanny Diaries is a modern fairytale where the morale of the story is greed isn’t good. |
“It’s got this kind of urban fairytale thing. It has these funny Mary Poppins things to it. It’s this kind of funny twist on all those kind of things. It’s also a great New York story which is really nice about it too.” |
Paul seems to be on a roll playing bad guys. Next he’ll play another sinister character also motivated by money as the head of an assassin ring in Shoot ‘Em Up. |
