PAUL GIAMATTI GOES FROM SUPERINTENDENT TO EXTERMINATOR
Paul Giamatti is accumulating quite the assorted resume playing a wide range of characters who seem to have service jobs in common. He is currently playing a superintendent in The Lady in The Water and an exterminator in animated film, The Ant Bully. Paul talks about how he found his character’s voice. |
Paul took the silliness to the limit and says he had the most fun grunting and squealing when he gets attacked by animated insects in the film exacting their revenge. |
“You know it’s a really bizarre thing, a really interesting thing. What is the character supposed to be? For some reason it struck me that he should sound like he was from Chicago or something for some reason. That seemed like it was on the page that there was some sort of accent that needed to be there. I don’t know why I thought that and it seemed to work so that was basically it. It was basically I found the voice and letting these guys tell me how far I could go.”rn |
The Ant Bully also features Lily Tomlin as the voice of the crusty old lady whose grandson shrinks to ant size. rn |
“It was fun because there was a lot I got to do with it like sort of scream and make weird strangled noises as I get stung in the butt and stuff like that. Or get bitten in the thigh. That was fun. I actually felt the easiest part about it was all that kind of painful screaming and squealing. All the kind of grunts and funny cartoon animated film noises that you have to make are the funnest part of it.” |
