PARAMORE, MY CHEM, REJECTS FEATURED AT 2008 BAMBOOZLE
With 6 stages and over 50 bands covering two days, The Bamboozle Left in California demonstrated why it will become an annual event |
Following in the footsteps of The Bamboozle, which is an annual music festival in New Jersey, Bamboozle Left held it’s second West Coast festival, this time in Irvine, California on April 5th and 6th and it’s success showed why it has what it takes to become an annual event. 2008’s Bamboozle Left featured sets from My Chemical Romance, Paramore, All American Rejects, The Bravery, Jimmy Eat World, Blaqk Audio (Davey from AFI’s new two piece electronic band), New Found Glory and Chiodos to name just a few of the bands that performed on 6 stages. By far and above, one of the most anticipated sets came from Paramore, who are enjoying meteoric success due the strength of multiple hit singles off their debut release ‘Riot!’ and fans packed the stage on Saturday night to get a glimpse of the up and coming stars. |
We caught up with Josh and Zac Farro of Paramore, who will also be performing at The Bamboozle in May on the East Coast, to get their thoughts on performing at Bamboozle Left in California. |
“We were definitely stoked to find out we were going to be a part of Bamboozle Left for sure. We’re always used to the East coast and out here you got the nice weather and it’s a totally different feel. It’s awesome. It’s the perfect time to play a festival because Warped Tour is in the Summer and it’s so hot you know and it sucks and so it’s kind of cold but it’s cool. By the time you get on stage you have energy. It’s like the perfect temperature so it’s awesome.” |
We also caught up with Mike and Tyson of All American Rejects, who had the unenviable task of performing after Paramore, to get their thoughts on taking some time away from the studio working on their upcoming album to perform at Bamboozle Left. |
“I was shocked that we were asked to play last. Yeah I was too. It’s a pretty big honor. I thought they’d find a bigger band to do it. Who are we? It kind of caught us off guard. We’re like ‘O.K.’ We’re in the studio right now so we’re pieces of s**t right now. We’re so tired and haggard but you get what you get I guess. They picked us!” |
We also spoke with Sam Endicott of The Bravery to get his thoughts on why the band jumped at the chance to be a part of Bamboozle Left. |
“It’s cool man, we always try to do things we haven’t done before so we try do new s**t, something new and interesting and this is something that we’ve never done before so most of these bands we’ve never played with so we’re really excited about it.” |
Just a few of the other bands who rounded out Bamboozle Left were The Cab, Face to Face, Paper Rival, The Starting Line, Steel Train, Bayside, The AKA’s, Story of the Year, Color Fred and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The Bamboozle is set to take place at The Meadowlands Sports Complex on May 3rd and 4th. Snoop Dogg, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Mindless Self Indulgence, Bret Michaels, Coheed and Cambria, Panic at the Disco, Pepper and Biffy Clyro are just a few bands slated to perform. |
