New York underground rapper Papoose has been making quite a name for himself. He recently joined the roster of Violator Management whose clients also include 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Mobb Deep, and LL Cool J. Papoose also entered into a unique partnership between DJ Kay Slay’s Streetsweeper Entertainment and Busta Rhymes’ Flipmode where he will work with both production companies. |
The union between Kay Slay and Rhymes came at a strange time as the two men were on the outs. Papoose explained, |
“Busta Rhymes had did his homework, spoke to some people from Long Island who deal with mixtapes and they was telling him how consistent I was. And even though him and Kay Slay was on bad terms, he reached out and I respect him for that. He reached out and said, ‘Yo I want this kid. I want to do some music with him.’ He got me on the three-way. He complimented me. I let him know that he’s a living legend in my eyes and I respect everything that he did and the rest was history. Next thing I know I was in the studio doing a record with Lloyd Banks, Missy, you know, Rah Digga, everybody else. So you know that was an honor and a privilege.” |
Papoose is featured on the remix of Rhymes’s “Touch It,” and the two recently collaborated on the track “Get Right,” which was produced by Swizz Beatz. The song will be the first single from Papoose’s upcoming debut album. |
