Panic at the Disco talk about their excitement in headlining the Honda Civic tour and designing a Civic for one lucky winner |
Panic at the Disco, who are nearing completion of their sophomore album ‘Pretty. Odd.’ have been announced as the headlining band for the 2008 Honda Civic Tour. Panic at the Disco rose onto the musical scene after being signed by Decaydance, which is Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy’s record label and on the strength of their debut album ‘A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out’ saw the album go platinum with sales in excess of 1.6 million albums. |
We caught up with Brendon Urie and Ryan Ross of Panic at the Disco to get their thoughts on headlining the 2008 Honda Civic Tour and how excited they are to finally get out on tour for their fans once again. |
“(Ross)I know it’s really exciting for us because we haven’t done a tour in quite awhile now. The fact that we can come back and have a new record out and do the Honda Tour as our first tour is pretty exciting. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” “(Urie) It’s a good way to start, you know.” |
Following the lead of Fall Out Boy, The Black Eyed Peas and Maroon 5, Panic at the Disco also had the privilege of designing a 2008 Honda Civic that one lucky contestant will win during the upcoming tour. We also talked with Panic at the Disco about the process of designing a car. |
“(Urie) Actually, it wasn’t tough at all. It was more just a lot of fun. We were actually in the studio the time we were designing it and in between takes we would take half hour sessions and sit around together in an isolation booth and talk about different ideas.” “(Ross) Being in an isoltation booth sounds crazy. We did it.” “(Urie) It’s crazy but we did and we just threw out a bunch of ideas, Spencer on the lap top just jotting everything down and throwing out the stuff we don’t like. It was very…” “(Ross) There were many revisions. But this is what it came to.” “(Urie) Yeah, many revisions but this was the final.” |
Panic at the Disco will release their new album, ‘Pretty. Odd.’, on March 25th and the band has a brief European tour in February and March. The 2008 Honda Civic Tour kicks off April 10th at The Warfield Theater in San Francisco, California. |
