P.O.D. TIGHTLY KNIT, WHATEVER THE SALES TOTAL MAY BE
P.O.D. released their new album, Testify, to very good initial sales thanks to their rabid fan base they call “Warriors,” The album is still in the Top 100 according to Billboard, but it’s steadily sinking. Also sinking is their radio presence with “Goodbye For Now.” One bright spot has been TRL, the MTV request show, which has the fanbase mobilized enough to push the song to Number 1, giving them four straight Number 1 music videos. |
The band, which is from the San Diego suburb of Southtown, changed members before their eponymous last album, and any talk that the band’s failure to follow-up previous successes is due to personnel is unfounded. Vocalist Sonny Sandoval said that the band is as close as ever with Jason Truby handling guitar duties. |
“I think we click as people first, so it doesn’t…You don’t have to be even have to talk about music, you don’t even have to be making music. You know I thik when we first got together it wasn’t about music. We got together and caught up on old times and old memories and then finally got through that, and finally wrote the song for the Matrix. So, I don’t think there was much adjusting at all. We don’t need music to get along. That’s just a bonus for us.” |
P.O.D., short for Payable On Death, is planning a spring tour in support of Testify with Pillar, The Chariot, and Maylene as openers is in the works. |
