OZZY OSBOURNE SET TO DROP BLACK RAIN
Ozzy Osbourne is set to drop his new album, Black Rain, on May 22, and his guitarist Zakk Wylde reveals what fans can expect. |
Ozzy Osbourne is set to release his new album, Black Rain, on May 22, and the first track from the album is “I Don’t Wanna Stop.” Now close to fifteen years since his “No More Tours” tour, he’s still chugging. Black Rain is his first album of new material in six years. Tracks on the album include “Not Going Away,” “Thank God For The Almighty Dollar,” “11 Silver,” “Civilize The Universe,” “Black Rain,” “Countdown’s Begun,” “Trap Door,” “Here For You,” and “Lay Your World On Me.” |
Guitarist Zakk Wylde was instrumental in creating the album, and we asked him in a recent interview what fans can expect from the album. |
“I dunno, Ozz is… The boss sings his ass off and it sounds like an Ozzy record. I always just laugh when people go, ‘What’s it sound like?’ and I go, ‘It sounds like an Ozzy record. It sounds like Ozzy music.’ It’s Ozzy music. The same cloth that Randy Rhoads and him cut is the foundation. That’s where it started and that’s where we’ll always begin and we’ll always end. It’s gotta sound like that. When I pick up that guitar, and I play them songs, it’s like being a New York Yankee. When you put those pinstripes on you’re part of something special and greatness is expected out of you.” |
The subject matter in Ozzy’s Black Rain deals with greed, war, deception, and bad drugs among others. Wylde said that he’s been put on the earth to protect Ozzy, and he compares the two of them to the Blues Brothers’ Jim Belushi and Dan Akroyd. |
“I’m convinced my mission in this life is doing the Children’s Cancer Foundation for St. Jude’s and is to protect him. That’s it. I love Randy Rhoads and I love Oz. That’s my job in this life is to just whoop some ass and then create this massive world domination. That’s what we gotta do. We’re on a mission. Just like Belushi and Akroyd, we’re on a mission from god (laughs).” |
Ozzy is set to tape the new installment of VH1 Rock Honors in May and then it’s off on a world tour starting later that month, May 27th in Moscow. OzzFest starts July 12 in Seattle, Washington. |
