Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne were on hand at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City to announce the madman’s signature series of shirts earlier this month. The funds from the T-shirt sales will go to Sharon Osbourne’s Colon Cancer Foundation, which helps fight the disease and help those suffering from its effects. |
Backstage at the event, Sharon Osbourne talked about her cancer organization, which will benefit from the sales of the special Signature Series shirts. |
“Yeah, the benefits are going to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer program which is associated with Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and that’s the hospital that saved my life. I wanted to try in some small way to give something back because they gave me so much. I wanted to give something back. When you do a foundation or a charity for that raises money for research, that takes millions and millions of pounds, and I knew that I couldn’t undertake that by myself but in a small way I could help. I thought how about helping the patients who are already diganosed who…. Some of them are single moms, can’t work because they have colon cancer. Who takes care of their children? Who feeds their children? Who goes out to do the shopping?” |
Ozzy Osbourne talked about agreeing to contribute artwork and the design of the shirt. |
[Ozzy] “It feels very good. It’s… I did a thing in England. I did one of them wristbands and it went crazy.” [Sharon] “It was a wristband for peace.” [Ozzy] “I walk around with this little demon Ozzy. When I’m on stage and that sort of thing, I turn into him. He’s like a little he’s like a funny, crazy, guy.” |
Osbourne’s T-shirt will benefit the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, which was established by the queen of metal after her battle with the disease. Ozzy became the 22nd rocker to contribute a signature series shirt, and notable others include Bruce Springsteen, Queen, and Aerosmith among others. |
