OZZY AND SHARON OSBOURNE MAKE BIG NOISE ABOUT EXES
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne treat their team stellar, but once they leave the fold it may be a different story says ex bassist/songwriter Phil Soussan. |
Former Ozzy Osbourne bass player Phil Soussan is currently touring with Big Noize, the all-star outfit featuring Joe Lynn Turner on vocals, Carlos Cavazzo on guitar, and Vinny Appice on drums. Soussan spent a short time with Osbourne, and wrote one of his biggest hits, “Shot In The Dark,” but like most of the musicians that have previously worked with the Prince Of Darkness, Sharon and legal woes have followed him. He sued the Osbournes for royalties from his work with them, and in response the album he worked on, The Ultimate Sin, was, and may still be, out of print. |
Osbourne’s old bassist and drummer, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake, filed suit for royalties, and the Osbournes responded by recording over their tracks with Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin, and reissuing the albums without the litigants contributions. Soussan reportedly had a run-in at the funeral of old Ozzy drummer Randy Castillo, and the confrontation between him and Sharon apparently got physical. While he didn’t talk about the incident he did comment on his relationship in 2008 with Ozzy and Sharon. |
“Sharon is a person that when you’re working with can be really super and really charming and when you’re not working with doesn’t seem to be much middle ground. They don’t maintain very great relationships. I don’t think that’s any secret. I don’t think she did that (re-record) with any of my stuff. I think she had her reasons to do that with, I think, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake’s contributions on the first records, and I don’t know the exact details of why. All I can say is that I had a great time with Ozzy. That was one of the highlights of my life. At the time Sharon and I were always really close and good friends, and the same with Ozzy. Things ended up the way they did, and hopefully one day we can all be friends again. I would relish that. We sort of… I think come to terms… I don’t want to say… It’s water under the bridge, you know? It’s a long time ago.” |
Soussan has also worked with Vince Neil, Billy Idol and Jimmy Page’s solo band. |
