ORLANDO BLOOM: GONE FISHING FOR HAVEN

Orlando Bloom took a break from filming blockbusters like Pirates of The Caribbean and scaled things considerably back by producing Haven, using his star power to make things happen such as calling up some of his musician friends to be on the soundtrack. Orlando also stars in the independent film shot on location in the Cayman Islands. Written and directed by native islander Frank E. Flowers, Orlando took a couple of lessons in island life for his character. |
Haven is kind of a Romeo and Juliet story where Bloom’s common fisherman is forbidden to love the local businessman’s daughter played by Zoe Saldana. |
“Well Shy is a fisherman so he kind of has a free and easy manner about him. I went down to the local docks. Frank E. Flowers, Sr. organized a session with some local fisherman so that I could scale fish and spray down some boats.” |
Orlando also fell in love with the Cayman Islands and is considering buying a home in the tropical paradise. |
“The love that he has for this girl is forbidden so it’s a forbidden love and her family who is a wealthy Caymanian family just have no interest in the young fisherman who’s got no prospects being in this relationship with their princess of a daughter.” |
If his Pirates schedule allows him Orlando hopes to be back in The Cayman Islands for the movie’s premiere. |
“One of the other great joys was to make a film in the Cayman Islands which I didn’t know anything about. I spent three weeks here and I’d love to have a place here. The temperature is beautiful and it’s been like a working holiday. I feel so lucky to have been involved so it was good.” |
