ORIGINAL JANES ADDICTION LINEUP TO TOUR WITH NINE INCH NAILS IN 2009

Stephen Perkins discusses making music once again in Jane’s Addiction with his friend since fourteen, guitarist Dave Navarro.

Janes Addiction and Nine Inch Nails are set to tour together in the summer of 2009 and it will be the original Janes Addiction lineup consisting of Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery. The original Janes Addiction lineup performed together for the first time since 1991 at the NME Awards in Los Angeles in 2008 and have since performed a few secrets shows around Hollywood as rumors continue to swirl that the band is in the studio working on a new album.

Artisan News caught up with drummer Stephen Perkins to get his thoughts on making music once again with his long time friend Dave Navaroo.

“Well it comes real easy for me and Dave. We’ve been playing together since we were fourteen. So, when he plays a guitar riff I just simply fall into a pocket because it feels right. Or vice versa when I start playing a pocket Dave just jumps on.”

Perkins also talked about the premature break up of Janes Addiction after their final Lollapalooza tour in 1991.

“As soon as things started happening, is when we broke up, like you said. Yeah, and it would have been great if we had a manager say ‘You know what, take a year off.’ And instead the manager said ‘Oh I don’t know what to tell you.’ So we broke up.”

On the Nine Inch Nails website lead vocalist Trent Reznor called his tour with Jane’s Addiction one the biggest breaks of his career. “Towards the beginning of my career in Nine Inch Nails, our biggest break came in the form of an invitation to perform a series of shows with Jane’s Addiction.” Reznor went on to add that this will be Nine Inch Nails final tour together as the band will go on an indefinite hiatus. “After some thought, we decided to book a last run of shows across the globe this year. I’ve been thinking for some time now it’s time to make NIN disappear for a while.” No tour dates have officially been announced as of press time.
