Detroit-based rapper Obie Trice was shot early Saturday morning, December 31st, while driving on a freeway in Detroit. The rapper was able to pull off of the freeway in the Southfield section of the city where his girlfriend flagged down a police officer. Trice was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Trice, who was driving a Range Rover, may have been the victim of road rage. Police haven’t made any arrests and are still investigating the shooting. Trice was leaving an after party hosted by comedian Mike Epps when the incident took place.

Trice will release his sophomore album, Second Round’s On Me, this spring on Eminem’s Shady Record label. Trice’s 2003 debut, Cheers, was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies.
