OAR REFLECTS ON LOVE AND MEMORIES
O.A.R. has returned with a new album, titled ‘Stories Of A Stranger,’ and the band’s first single is “Love And Memories,” which was co-written with songwriting guru Glen Ballard, who did his most notable work with Alanis Morissette. |
Ballard helped define the idea the band had about love and how it decays in people’s minds. Saxophonist Jerry DePizzo, with drummer Chris Culos by his side, talked about the inspiration behind “Love And Memories.” |
“It has to do with being on both sides of the picture, one being that having such intesnse feelings and connection with an individual and then just watching them disappear from your life and then on the other side having them erase you from their life. So it’s very strong emotional feelings with the album, I mean with the song, and also just a really bitchin’ guitar riff to start it off. It belongs on the radio.” |
While Ballard certainly lent his craft to O.A.R.’s new album, Stories Of A Stranger, the biggest behind the scenes force was Talking Heads member turned producer Jerry Harrison, who helped the band reach their potential. |
