NYC BEACON BECOMES SPECIAL RUN FOR ALLMAN BROTHERS
The Allman Brothers Band have started their annual New York Beacon Theater run and each year the band books a solid couple of weeks of shows and continues their tradition of featuring the band at it’s peak. It’s well known New York crowds are perhaps the best rock and roll crowds around always bringing The Big Apples intensity and enthusiasm for good music and The Beacon Theater is no different. But why is the Beacon Theater such a special place where The Allman Brothers call home? |
We caught up with Warren Haynes to discuss The Beacon and why it’s so special to the band. |
“Well The Beacon Theater has just turned into a home for The Allman Brothers and it’s starting to get that way for Gov’t Mule, it’s just a wonderful old theater, the audience is always great, New York audiences are killer in general but something about that Beacon audience is really special. Gregg Allman always says that it reminds him of the old Fillmore East, which I unfortunately was never able to see.” |
The Allman Brothers will be performing at The Beacon Theater in New York until April 7th. The band has also announced a few festival dates this summer including the bands Wanee Festival in Florida, Beale Street in Memphis and The New Orleans Jazz Festival. Look for the band to announce a run of summer tour dates in the near future. Although nothing has been announced, it seems only natural for the band to get back into the studio to work on some material for their follow up to 2003’s ‘Hittin’ the Note’ which featured the bands best batch of new material in years. |
