NO GUN TWIRLING FOR BROSNAN AND NEESON
Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson were disappointed they couldn’t get fancy with their guns in Seraphim Falls. |
Making a western was always a dream for Pierce Brosnan who envisioned joining his Irish brothers Gabriel Byrne, Colin Meaney and Liam Neeson for a shootout at the OK Corral. When you think of a Western an automatic image comes to mind of a cowboy twirling his gun as he draws it out of his holster and fires. |
In Seraphim Falls stars Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan were excited about the prospect of doing just that until they realized there was no twirling required. |
Liam: “No there was none of the twirling fancy stuff. Your gun was your tool and yes we did fire the real guns at a firing range with an expert just to feel what the recoil was like and stuff. I had never handled a Western gun before. Those are nine pounds. They’re heavy, really heavy and a couple of times we had to fire ‘em. That was cool too of course.” Pierce: It is fun when you come to do that. I remember we talked about should we do the draw which you’ve seen so many times. How do you do it? But you have to do what you’ve seen a million times in all the movies. And you have a blast actually doing it.” |
Both actors read up on the Civil War since Seraphim Falls takes place on the tail end of the battle. Liam Neeson furthered his education as he had already began studying the time period for his upcoming role as Abraham Lincoln. |
