NIKKI SIXX SAYS UNDERDOG MOTLEY WILL FINISH NEW ALBUM ON…
Nikki Sixx says that Motley Crue will finish up their new album on the road with Aerosmith, and he talks about Motley always being the underdog. |
Motley Crue kicked off their tour with Aerosmith in Columbus, Ohio yesterday (September 5), and bassist Nikki Sixx who helped Meat Loaf write for Bat Out Of Hell 3, and Tommy Lee, who had voting duties for Rockstar: Supernova will finish writing songs for a new Motley album on the road. |
A few weeks before the tour Sixx stopped to talk with us about the Aerosmith tour, and getting work done. |
“We’re writing a lot of great music right now and when it’s ready, it’ll be ready. We’re going to go out…We’re doing a co-headlining tour with Aerosmith, and we’re excited about that. We’ll probably finish writing on the road. That’s going to be really great. I think that’s going to be one of the tours of the year.” |
The band is on its second year of touring in support of its Red White And Crue Greatest Hits package, and the original members are still together for the ride. Still, the band hasn’t gotten the respect of critics and journalists, and he said that’s fine with him. |
“We’ve always been the underdog and we love it. We really do love it. We’ve always felt a little bit underground. We’ve always felt a little bit against the grain, a little left of center, and I think it’s important for who we are. It probably pushes us. We can have Number One albums and still not get the critical acclaim and that just makes us feel that we are still somehow connected to the fan and not to the critic.” |
Motley Crue’s tour with Aerosmith will wind down, November 4 in Las Vegas. Vegas is where drummer Tommy Lee will start a brief tour with Supernova, the TV rock band, and it’s slated to kick off New Year’s Eve at The Joint. Supernova features ex-Guns N’Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke and bassist Jason Newsted. |
